Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2024 today. This is the second budget this year, the first being the interim budget presented in February before the Lok Sabha elections 2024. Finance Minister Sitharaman announced that the government will provide Rs 15,000 crore for the development of the Andhra Pradesh capital in the current financial year and future years. She said the government will introduce an interest subsidy scheme for affordable loans for urban houses. She said that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0, one crore families will be provided housing with an investment of Rs 10 lakh crore.

Nirmala Sitharaman said that a provision of Rs 11.11 lakh crore was made for capital expenditure. She said that the arrival of NCLT helped in returning Rs 3.3 lakh crore to the lenders, new tribunals will be formed to speed up the bankruptcy resolution process. The government will come up with a policy document for energy security and transformation. She said that the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme has received a good response, 1.8 crore people have registered for it.
Sitharaman said that the Centre will provide financial support for flood control activities in Assam, there is also a plan for Kosi in Bihar. She said that a monthly allowance of Rs 5,000 will be given under the Prime Minister's Internship Scheme. The Finance Minister proposed 'transit' based development plans for big cities with a population of more than 30 lakh. She said that a corridor will be developed around Vishnupad Temple in Gaya and Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya for tourism development. A new power plant of 2,400 MW capacity will be built in Pirpainti, Bihar.
He said that there is a provision of Rs 10 lakh crore for cities under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. NPS Vatsalya Yojana will be launched. He said that to accelerate economic growth, the government will come up with an economic policy framework to bring next generation reforms. He said that the government will launch the fourth phase of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in 25 such rural settlements, which have become eligible due to population growth.
The Finance Minister said that the government will give Rs 11,500 crore to Bihar to deal with floods. The Finance Minister proposed a long-term interest-free loan of Rs 1.5 lakh crore to help the states in infrastructure development. The central government will cooperate in developing Nalanda as a tourist center in Bihar. Land records will be digitized in urban areas. This will improve the financial condition of urban bodies.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Tuesday that the loan limit under the Mudra scheme will be doubled to Rs 20 lakh. Presenting the 2024-25 budget in the Lok Sabha, she said that the government will launch a scheme to provide internship opportunities to one crore youth in the top 500 companies in the next five years. The Finance Minister said that apart from this, the central government will also promote industrial parks ready for investment in 100 cities.
