Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday presented her seventh consecutive budget for the financial year 2024-25. The finance minister made several big announcements for Bihar, including new airports, highways and educational institutions. On the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor, we will support an industrial development in Gaya, Bihar. This will accelerate the development of the eastern region. We will also support the development of road connectivity projects – Patna-Purnia Expressway, Buxar-Bhagalpur Highway, Bodh Gaya-Rajgir-Vaishali-Darbhanga and an additional two-lane bridge over the Ganga river at Buxar at a cost of Rs 26,000 crore.”

To promote tourism, the Finance Minister said that Vishnupath Temple in Gaya and Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya will be constructed like Kashi Vishwanath Corridor. Hot springs in Rajgir will be preserved and development of Nalanda will be given priority. He said, “Requests of Bihar government for external assistance from multilateral development banks will be expedited…” The Finance Minister also said that power projects will be taken up at a cost of Rs 21,400 crore, including setting up of a new 2400 MW power plant at Pirpainti in Bihar.

In addition, the Finance Minister announced the government's commitment to fund and complete the Polavaram irrigation project, which is vital for Andhra Pradesh and its agricultural community. This year, more funds will be allocated to boost capital investment and promote economic growth.
Sitharaman said “Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act- Our Government has made efforts to fulfil the commitments in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. Recognising the capital requirement of the State, we will facilitate special financial assistance through multilateral agencies. In the current financial year, Rs 15,000 crore will be provided with additional amounts in future years. The Government also announced a fund of Rs 15,000 crore for the development of the capital of Andhra Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh thanked the Government for the announcements made for Andhra Pradesh. The Prime Minister mentioned that the request of the Bihar Government for external assistance from multilateral development banks will be expedited.
