Who is Manish Kumar Verma?
Manish Kumar Verma was born in 1974 and hails from Nitish Kumar's home district Nalanda. Verma is an alumnus of IIT Delhi. Talking about his tenure, Manish Kumar Verma was appointed to the Odisha cadre after joining the IAS. After 12 years of service, he requested deputation to his home state due to his father's ill health. During his tenure in Bihar, he served as the District Magistrate of Patna.
Manish Kumar Verma is considered very close to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He has also served as Nitish Kumar's personal advisor. Now, he started his political innings by joining JDU on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. After joining the party, Nitish Kumar has given him a big responsibility in the party and made him the National General Secretary. It is being said that Manish Kumar Verma will be the next successor of Nitish Kumar and will take over the command of the party (JDU) in future.
JDU busy preparing for 2025 assembly elections
Actually, assembly elections are to be held in Bihar next year i.e. in 2025. In such a situation, Nitish Kumar is already taking many big decisions to strengthen the party and is making changes in the party. Before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Nitish Kumar removed Munger MP and currently Union Minister Lallan Singh from the post of national president of the party and he himself took over the command. Then, after the results of the Lok Sabha elections, JDU National President Nitish Kumar appointed party veteran Sanjay Jha as the acting national president.
