New Delhi. The protests against reservation in government jobs in Bangladesh have now taken a violent turn. In view of the deteriorating situation, the Indian High Commission in Dhaka has issued an immediate advisory for its citizens and students living in Bangladesh.
In this advisory, people have been advised to avoid non-essential travel and to minimise their movement outside their homes due to increasing unrest in the country. The Indian High Commission in Bangladesh said, “Given the current situation in Bangladesh, Indian community members and Indian students living in Bangladesh are advised to avoid travel and stay in their safe places and to minimise their movement outside their homes.”
Apart from this, the Indian High Commission in Dhaka and the Indian Assistant High Commissions in Chittagong, Sylhet and Khulna have issued emergency numbers for their citizens and students. Let us tell you that there are massive protests against reservation in government jobs in many cities of Bangladesh. Thousands of students have taken to the streets demanding the abolition of reservation.
This protest against reservation has now taken a violent turn and 6 people have died in clashes with the police. At the same time, more than 100 protesters are reported to be injured. The situation has become so bad that schools, colleges and madrassas have had to be closed in different cities of Bangladesh including Dhaka.
