Hyderabad, July 22 (IANS) On World Brain Day, health professionals have said that people should get their full sleep instead of wasting time on the internet.
Doctors said that an adequate sleep of seven hours is extremely important to help the brain function better. They warned that lack of sleep can lead to brain-related problems.
Speaking about the importance of sleep and the effects of lack of it on the brain, Dr S Ramesh, Consulting Neurosurgeon, Kamineni Hospitals said, “Sleep is one of the most important parts of any person's daily routine. Sleep is important for many brain-related functions.''
He also said that lack of proper sleep harms new memories as well as the response system.
Let us tell you that the brain controls the human body and its functions. It is important to know that sleep affects every aspect and every organ of the human body, especially it has a special effect on the brain.
“Good sleep has a positive impact on health. On the other hand, lack of sleep affects the brain, heart and lungs,” said Dr CH Vijay, consultant neurologist at KIMS Icon Hospital, Visakhapatnam.
He said that many people complain of mood swings, which is also directly related to the quality of sleep and its effect on the brain.
On the occasion of World Brain Day, the focus is on promoting brain health.
Dr. A. Rampapa Rao, President of Uchchvas Transitional Care, said, “I think the biggest risk to a healthy brain is high blood pressure among other reasons. Along with this, the changed lifestyle is also responsible for this. Lack of sleep is also one of the important factors.”
He said that I appeal to everyone to focus on getting at least seven hours of good sleep every day, no matter what profession they are in.
“We strongly believe that healthy sleep habits are of paramount importance to maintaining a healthy brain and its optimal functioning.”
The World Neurology Federation was founded on 22 July 1957, but it was only in 2013 that the Federation's Public Awareness and Advocacy Committee proposed that its foundation day be declared as World Brain Day.
The theme of the day this year is 'Brain Health and Prevention', which includes the mission to actively assess and address neurological diseases.
The day also emphasizes the importance of early detection and effective management of brain-related diseases.
