Accident or Conspiracy Godhra movie has been released in theatres today. For some time now, there has been a trend of showing horrific events of history on screen as documents. After The Kashmir Files, Tashkent Files, Accident or Conspiracy Godhra proves to be its next part. On this subject, Ekta Kapoor is bringing The Sabarmati Report with Vikrant Massey. Talking about this film, the basis of making this film is the Nanavati Shah report. On the aspect of cinematic criteria, this film may not leave a deep impact due to limited resources and some flaws in the screenplay, but this film should be watched so that in future the series of ruthless killing of innocent people by getting misled by some people and becoming a part of a frenzied and violent mob can be stopped.
The story of the Godhra incident is heart wrenching
In the morning of 27th February 2002, two coaches of Sabarmati Express were set on fire a short distance from Godhra railway station in Gujarat because it was carrying karsevaks coming from Ayodhya, in which 59 people were burnt alive. This film goes to the bottom of that incident and brings out the truth and lies related to it. The story of the film is told through three different timelines. In one timeline, how the incident happened, what was the conspiracy behind it. In the second timeline, the pain and terror of the families of the people killed in that incident is shown through student Abhimanyu and in the third timeline, the court case is shown, in which one side is trying to prove that it was an accident, while the other side is calling that incident a well-planned conspiracy. What was the truth and what happened that day. This is the story of the film.
Pros and cons of the film
Everyone knows about the heart wrenching incident of Godhra incident, but all the films made till now are post-Godhra i.e. on Gujarat riots, but before that Godhra incident happened in which 59 people were burnt alive. This film brings that incident to the fore. This film has brought that incident, which has been recorded in the pages of history, on screen, for which all the people associated with this film deserve praise, but the film does not try to find out anything in grey. Everything is black and white. This thing hurts. Along with this, when this film has been made on the basis of the investigation of Nanavati Shah Mehta Commission constituted on that matter, then why does the film start with a disclaimer before starting. It is worth noting that like the Nanavati report, this film holds only the people of a particular religion and the electronic media responsible. The current government, police security force, fire brigade, everyone is given a clean chit. Well, coming to the film. Usually courtroom drama means over the top arguments and a 3 minute monologue at the end of the film, but the treatment of the film has kept away from all these things, which is one aspect of the film. It is common for such films to be one-sided. At many places this film loses balance, but then tries to recover. In one scene a Muslim youth gives water to a pregnant Hindu woman, while in another scene a Muslim describes the Godhra conspiracy as against Islam. The film also brings out very well how rumours sometimes turn one person against another. How the news of a Muslim woman being molested by Hindus acts as a fire in the people. The film has also remained a little weak in production value, especially in the train burning sequence, although the acting of the actors and the situation in the scene are heart-wrenching. The story has been made more effective by the voice of actor Sharad Kelkar. The music of the film is in accordance with the story.
brilliant acting by the actors
Talking about acting, Ranveer Shouri and Manoj Joshi have given a good performance in the role of lawyers. Their acting strengthens the courtroom drama of the film. Hitu Kanodia, Denisha and MK Shivaksh have also done justice to their respective roles.
