Even though Dave Bautista is no longer an active pro wrestler, he’ll always have some bits of it. Ever wonder why he tries to sneak in his iconic WWE finisher, the Bautista Bomb, in his movies? A glimpse of it was widely picked up by his fans and critics alike in the 55-year-old’s latest action comedy drama, My Spy: The Eternal City.
Recently, the wrestler-turned-actor sat down for an interview with Comic Book. During the conversation, Dave called it his obsession trying to sneak in some of the maneuvers he possessed inside the squared circle into the films he’s in. It’s nothing but a nod to his WWE career, and the fans who’ve always had his back, said Bautista.
More or less, The Animal still keeps a check on what’s making he waves in WWE these days. A few days ago, the former World Champion reacted to a clip from SmackDown. It consisted of that viral sell of a security personnel after being flattened by Cody Rhodes‘ signature move, Cross Rhodes. Batista was uber impressed and even called the sequence one of the best bumps he’s ever seen.
And now, it's kind of become my obsession. I'm trying to squeeze it into every film just because. I don't know. You know, it's one of those Easter eggs. I think if I can get it into every film, I will. It's just a nod to my career. A nod to the fans.Dave Bautista via Comic Book
Today, the former Evolution member is regarded by many, as one of the greatest performers the pro wrestling biz has welcomed. However, Dave Bautista didn’t have it easy to begin with. He recently detailed his tumultuous introduction to this realm.
Before he made it big in WWE, the Riddick actor was told to leave when he first showed up for a tryout in WCW. Taking a trip down memory lane, Bautista called it a miserable experience. However, he didn’t let any outside voice rattle him from the inside and the rest is history.
How Dave Bautista ended his WWE career?
For years, Dave had made it crystal clear that he wanted to wrestle Triple H before calling it a day to his career. After years of mounting anticipation, that moment finally arrived in 2019. He took out Ric Flair just before he was about to celebrate his 75th birthday on Raw. In the process, he caught the ire of The Game.
It resulted in a high-profile matchup between the two at WrestleMania 35. Hunter was forced to put his career on the line. It was all Dave’s ever wanted. The two men gave their all at The Showcase of the Immortals in New Jersey.
Even though the Guardians of the Galaxy actor lost to his former stablemate, Batista knew he could now end his career without any regret. Since then, The Animal has been long overdue for a well-deserved WWE Hall of Fame induction.
