The monsoon session of Parliament is starting today i.e. 22 July, which will run till 12 August 2024. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the budget in Parliament on 23 July. This is the first budget of the third term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi government. The monsoon session of Parliament is going to be very important due to the budget, so this is both the monsoon session of Parliament and the budget session. During this session of Parliament, six new bills will be introduced, including amendments to the Disaster Management Act. At the same time, there is a strong possibility of opposition uproar over the nameplate-NEET.
Lok Sabha speaker constituted BAC
There will be 16 meetings each in both the houses in the monsoon session. The Economic Survey will be presented on the first day, Monday. The budget will be presented in the Lok Sabha on the second day, 23 July. Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has constituted the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) to decide the parliamentary agenda. This 14-member committee will be chaired by the Lok Sabha Speaker himself.
Which leaders were included in BAC
This committee will include Sandeep Bandhopadhyay (TMC), PP Choudhary (BJP), Nishikant Dubey (BJP), Gourav Gogoi (Congress), Sanjay Jaiswal (BJP), Dileshwar Kamait (JDU), Bhartruhari Mahtab (BJP), Dayanidhi Maran (DMK), Benjayant Panda (BJP), Lalji Verma (SP), Arvind Sawant (Shiv Sena UTB), Kodikunnil Suresh (Congress), Anurag Thakur (BJP) and Lavu Srikrishna Devarayul (TDP) as members.
These bills will be introduced in this session of Parliament
During the monsoon session of Parliament, six new bills will be introduced, including amendments to the Disaster Management Act. These include Finance Bill, Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill – 2024, Boilers Bill – 2024, Indian Aircraft Bill – 2024, Coffee (Promotion and Development) Bill – 2024, Rubber (Promotion and Development) Bill – 2024. The most important among these is the Finance Bill. This will be the second Finance Bill of 2024. Apart from this, the important bill that the government is going to introduce is that of disaster management. Indian Aircraft Bill 2024 listed to replace the Aircraft Act 1934.
The government called an all-party meeting
To ensure smooth functioning of Parliament, the government also called an all-party meeting on Sunday, July 21. This meeting was held on Sunday under the chairmanship of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. Several Union Ministers including Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha JP Nadda, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and Food Processing Minister Chirag Paswan were also present in the meeting on behalf of the government.
On the other hand, Jairam Ramesh, Gaurav Gogoi, K. Suresh and Pramod Tiwari from Congress, Ram Gopal Yadav from Samajwadi Party, Tiruchi Shiva and TR Balu from DMK, Sanjay Singh from AAP and Asaduddin Owaisi from AIMIM and many leaders from other political parties were also present in the meeting. No leader from TMC attended the all-party meeting.
