Development in Mehrauli : To speed up the development work of Delhi's villages, the Kejriwal government organized a “Vikas Sabha” in Mehrauli Vidhan Sabha on Monday. To promote the green cover in Delhi, a campaign of plantation and distribution of saplings has started from July 11. Gopal Rai said that along with development, environmental protection is also important. That is why our government has started a plantation and distribution campaign in all the Legislative Assemblies on the theme “Where there is development, there is greenery”. He said that this year more than 7 lakh 74 thousand plants will be distributed free of cost. Under the tree plantation campaign, a target of planting and distributing more than 64 lakh saplings has been set this year. Which will be accomplished with the cooperation of all green agencies. Free medicinal plants are being distributed from the government nurseries of Delhi, so that people can participate in promoting the green cover of Delhi by planting saplings in their homes.
The Environment Minister said that we had given an important guarantee to the people of Delhi at the time of elections, in which we had set a target of planting two crore saplings in 5 years to improve the environment of Delhi. The government has achieved the target of planting almost 2 crore saplings in the fourth year of its tenure. This target has been achieved by the green agencies of all 21 related departments. To increase the green belt of Delhi and reduce the pollution of Delhi, the government is running a tree plantation campaign every year. Due to which a significant increase has been seen in the green cover inside Delhi.
