Rahul Dravid: Former Indian opener gautam gambhir has taken over as the chief coach of Team India in all formats. His first assignment is India's tour of Sri Lanka. The two-time ICC World Cup winner will take over as the new head coach of the senior men's team after the T20 World Cup 2024. Rahul Dravid Gambhir took Dravid's place. Team India, which lost in the final of the ODI World Cup last year, gave Dravid the T20 World Cup trophy as a farewell gift, which they won last month by defeating South Africa. Gambhir has inherited a huge and successful legacy from Dravid, which will not be easy to handle.
Gautam Gambhir told what is the plan
Gautam Gambhir, while talking to reporters in his first press conference as head coach on Monday, admitted that he has to work on a big post in his second innings in Team India. Without naming Dravid, he said that he has got a big responsibility. Gambhir said that the most important thing is that the players will always support me. My goal is to make it a happy and safe dressing room. I am leading a very successful team. This is the runner-up team in the World Test Championship and the 50-over World Cup. I have to work on big posts and I am excited about it.

Under Dravid's guidance, India reached the semi-finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup. After that India played the final of the World Test Championship. Under Dravid's coaching, India won the Asia Cup title once again. After this, India was the runner-up of the ODI World Cup last year. The BCCI had extended Dravid's tenure as India's chief coach after the ODI World Cup, but Dravid did not agree to the second extension. However, he fulfilled his dream of winning the World Cup.
Sri Lanka tour is Gambhir's first assignment
India's tour of Sri Lanka is Gautam Gambhir's first assignment and he would like to clean sweep the three-match T20 and the same number of ODI series in Sri Lanka. India has selected almost different teams for both the formats. Suryakumar Yadav has been given the captaincy of T20, while Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma are making a comeback in ODIs. Jasprit Bumrah has been rested as workload management. Axar Patel has been trusted in place of Ravindra Jadeja. Hardik Pandya is only part of the T20 team. Shubman Gill has been made the vice-captain in both formats.
