Another achievement has been added to the name of great Indian tennis players Leander Paes and Vijay Amritraj. They have been included in the 'Tennis Hall of Fame'. He is the first Asian player to be included in this list. Leander Paes won a bronze medal in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He has won 18 Grand Slam awards in his career. Apart from this, he has also been a part of many memorable Davis Cup matches.
As far as Vijay Amritraj is concerned, he has made it to the men's singles quarterfinals at Wimbledon and US Open twice. He also led India to the Davis Cup finals in 1974 and 1987. His best ranking in singles was 18.
Paes has been a part of 7 consecutive Olympics
The International Tennis Hall of Fame said in a statement that Leander Paes has received this honor in the 'Player Category', while Vijay Amritraj has received this honor in the 'Contributor Category'. This honor is given to players who have an impact on the game. A total of 267 veterans from 28 countries have been included in this list so far. Paes remained at the top of the world doubles rankings for 37 weeks. He has won 54 doubles titles. Apart from this, he has played 7 consecutive Olympics which is a record.
