Microsoft said in a blog post on Saturday that a technical glitch related to a software update by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike affected about 8.5 million computers.
“The CrowdStrike flaw is estimated to have affected 8.5 million Windows devices, or less than one percent of all devices running Windows,” Microsoft said. CrowdStrike is a security system from Microsoft. The latest update in the software has disrupted Microsoft services.
The logical explanation is that the Falcon sensor installed as part of CrowdStrike's update caused the disruption of services. Many systems that need to provide basic services like airline services, banks, stock exchanges, media houses etc. have been in crisis due to technical failure.
The problems started on Friday morning. By Saturday, services had come to a complete standstill. The problem also affected Microsoft's Assured cloud service. After this, the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) error warning appeared on the computers. Also, computers would restart unexpectedly and then show a blue screen warning.
