Kathmandu. India's National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team has reached Nepal to search for two passenger buses and the passengers that fell into Nepal's Trishuli river 10 days ago and has taken command of the rescue operation from Sunday morning. NDRF has started its rescue operation from the accident site of Triveni river in Simaltal of Chitwan. Till Sunday morning, out of 65 passengers travelling in both the buses, bodies of 25 passengers have been recovered so far, out of which 17 bodies have been identified. A team of 12 members led by NDRF officer Kunal Tiwari had reached the accident site on Saturday itself. In collaboration with Nepal's Armed Police Force, the NDRF team is also planning to go to that area of the river which is extremely deep and risky. Commanding Officer Kunal Tiwari, who is leading the NDRF, said that the NDRF diving team along with Nepal's divers will try to find out about the buses and the missing passengers from today with the help of state-of-the-art technology. He said that he has also brought with him some ultra modern machines for detecting dead bodies and objects submerged in deep water, which will be of great help in rescue operations here.
Chitwan's Chief District Magistrate Indradev Yadav said that the buses could not be traced with the water drones and sonar cameras with Nepal, but the NDRF team has advanced level sonar cameras and water drones along with ultra-modern sensor machines, which can detect the bodies in deep water. Chief District Magistrate Yadav has expressed hope that the NDRF team will definitely get some clue about the buses within the next one week. APF DIG Purushottam Thapa, who is commanding the rescue operation from Nepal, said that the NDRF team from India has a lot of experience in carrying out rescue operations in fast flowing rivers. Apart from this, with the arrival of the Indian NDRF team in water with excessive mud due to floods, there is a lot of hope that the buses and the remaining missing passengers will be traced. Till Sunday morning, out of the 65 passengers travelling in both the buses, bodies of 25 passengers have been recovered so far. In the list released by the Chief District Magistrate, it has been said that 17 bodies have been identified so far. Efforts are being made to find 40 bodies. One of the bodies recovered so far is that of the driver of the bus which was coming from Birgunj towards Kathmandu.
