Mumbai Mumbai: The Indian challenge ended early at the Dutch Ladies Open as Vani Kapoor, Tvesa Malik and Ridhima Dilawari missed the 36-hole cut in the last Ladies European Tour event before the Paris Olympics. Vani, who had started well with a 2-under 70 in the first round, fell to 4-over 76 and missed the cut by one shot. Vani finished at 2-over and the cut was 1-over. Twesa (73-80) and Ridhima (73-75) also failed to make the cut. The next LET event will be the Women's Scottish Open a week after the Olympics, and then the AIG Women's Open in the last week of August. Swiss star Kim Metraux shot a brilliant 5-under 67 on the first day to maintain her lead at the top of the leaderboard. Metraux, who is looking for her first LET win, led overnight after an opening round of 65 (-7) at Hilversumsche Golf Club. Starting her second round on the 10th tee, Metraux birdied the 10th, followed by consecutive bogeys on the 11th and 12th.
But the 29-year-old soon regained her rhythm with birdies on the 13th and 17th holes to make the turn at one under. Metraux made four birdies on her back nine to take a five-stroke lead with her round of five under and a total score of 12 under-par. Metraux is the older sister of two-time LET winner Morgan, who won the Jabra Ladies Open earlier this year. Liz Young of England and Shannon Tan of Singapore are both tied for second at seven under-par after 36 holes. Young, who won the 2022 VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open in the Netherlands, made rounds of 68-69 on the first two days. Laura Funfstuck of Germany and Jana Melichova of Czechia are tied for fourth at six under-par. The cut fell to +1, with 68 players reaching the final day of competition.
