Bhopal. The water level in Bhopal's lifeline Bada Talab has reached 1661.35 feet. Now only 5.45 feet of it is empty. On Sunday, the Kolans river is flowing 1 feet above its level. Since this morning, it has been raining intermittently in the city, sometimes heavily and sometimes drizzling. The weather department has issued an alert of heavy rain for the next 4 days.
In the last 24 hours, Bhopal received 13.2 mm i.e. more than half an inch of rain. Including this, till now 422 mm i.e. 16.61 inches of rain has fallen. This is 40% of the total rainfall of the season.
Continuously rising water level
The level of Bada Talab is constantly increasing. Actually, a lot of water is falling in the catchment area of Bada Talab and Kolans river. Due to heavy rains in Sehore district, water reaches Kolans river, then it comes to Bada Talab. In such a situation, the level of the pond is increasing. Water has also increased in Kolar, Kaliyasot and Kerwa Dam.
7.5 inches of water fell in July
The average rainfall in Bhopal in July is 367.7 mm or 14.4 inches. More than 7.5 inches of water has fallen in Bhopal from 1st to 20th July. Now about 7 inches more water is needed to complete the quota of July. Overall 16.6 inches of water has fallen in this season.
Heavy rain in the second fortnight
If we look at the data of the last 10 years, this is the lowest rainfall in 10 years. In the years 2015 and 2022, the maximum rainfall was 33.6 inches, while in 2020, 6.1 inches of rain fell.
