JGA officials said Miyata arrived in Japan on Thursday after leaving the team's training camp in Monaco for tests that confirmed he had been drinking alcohol. The JGA said only four athletes would now compete instead of five.

JGA President Tadashi Fujita and his personal coach Mutsumi Harada and other officials apologized to the fans for Miyata's actions. They said, 'We sincerely apologize for this.'
