Two female military athletes to take part in Paris Olympics for the first time
New Delhi. Among the 117 Indian athletes participating from India in the Paris Olympics, 24 will be armed forces personnel. Of these 24 athletes, 22 are men, including star javelin thrower Subedar Neeraj Chopra. There are two female athletes. Female military athletes will participate in the Olympics for the first time. Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Subedar Neeraj Chopra will once again claim the gold medal by participating in the Paris Olympics. Army Subedar Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal in the 2023 Asian Games, World Athletics Championships, 2024 Diamond League and 2024 Paavo Nurmi Games. Havildar Jasmine Lamboria, bronze medalist of the 2022 Commonwealth Games and CPO Ritika Hooda, bronze medalist of the 2023 Asian Wrestling Championships, are female service personnel participating in the Olympic Games for the first time. They will participate in boxing and wrestling. The participation of military personnel in the Paris Olympics reflects the commitment of the armed forces to promote sports excellence and promote athletic culture. Army personnel Subedar Amit Panghal (boxing), CPO Tajinderpal Singh Toor (shot-put), Subedar Avinash Mukund Sable (3000m steeplechase), CPO Mohammad Anas Yahiya, PO (GW) Mohammad Ajmal, Subedar Santosh Kumar Tamilarasan and JWO Mizo Chacko Kurien (4X400m men's relay), JWO Abdullah Abubakar (triple jump), Subedar Tarundeep Rai and Subedar Dheeraj Bomma Deora (archery) and Naib Subedar Sandeep Singh (shooting) are also among the service personnel who will be participating in the event to make the nation proud.
