Gautam Gambhir is going to start his tenure as the head coach of Team India from the Sri Lanka tour. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also announced the team for the tour starting from July 27.
Suryakumar Yadav has been made the captain of the T20 team, while the Indian team will play the ODI series under the leadership of regular captain Rohit Sharma. Dhoni's best friend has not got a place in the ODI team. Dhoni's trusted star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who plays for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, has not been included in the ODI team.
Jadeja was part of the World Cup
Jadeja was recently part of Team India that won the T20 World Cup. However, his performance was not very good. After the tournament, Jadeja announced his retirement from this format. Now he has not got a place in the ODIs for the Sri Lanka tour. Jadeja has been a big match winner for Team India. In the ODI World Cup held in November 2023, he bowled brilliantly and took 16 wickets in 11 matches. If we look at Jadeja's statistics in the ODI format, he has scored 2756 runs and taken 220 wickets.
Akshar-Sundar in the team
Axar Patel and young all-rounder Washington Sundar have been included in the ODI team against Sri Lanka. Axar Patel was also a part of Team India in the T20 World Cup. At the same time, Washington Sundar got a place in the team for the recently concluded Zimbabwe tour, where he performed brilliantly in the T20 series and was the highest wicket-taker in the series.
