Mumbai. A part of a four-storey building collapsed in Mumbai's Grant Road Station area. A woman died and four others were injured in the accident. Rescue operations are being carried out to evacuate the rest of the people trapped in the building. This building is said to be very old, which was declared dangerous by the Municipal Corporation 6 months ago.
Around 11 am on Saturday, a portion of the balcony and slab on the second and third floor of the 'Rubinisa Manzil' building collapsed and the other portion was hanging. With the help of Mumbai Fire Brigade, police, ambulance and locals, a body was pulled out from the debris after about an hour and all the injured were admitted to the hospital for treatment.
BMC Disaster Control Officer said that more people are feared to be trapped in the debris and rescue operation is being carried out to take them out. This is the first such accident in this monsoon season in Mumbai. Heavy rain has been continuing in Mumbai for the last 72 hours.
