The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not given a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi to participate in the Global T20 Canada League. The Global T20 Canada League is to be played from 25 July to 11 August. The schedule of the league is not clashing with any series or match of Pakistan.
Despite this, the players will not get NOC. Earlier, Naseem Shah was also not given NOC to participate in The Hundred. The board has taken this decision keeping in mind Pakistan's busy cricket calendar between August 2024 and March 2025.
PCB gave information on social media
PCB issued a press release saying that the board had received NOC requests from the remaining players including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi for the global T20 event. The board has decided to reject their request, keeping in mind Pakistan's busy cricket calendar between August 2024 and March 2025 and after consultation with the three players as well as the National Selection Committee.
All three are all-format cricketers and their services are expected to be required over the next eight months, during which Pakistan will play nine Tests, 14 ODIs and nine T20Is. Between August 2024 and March 2025, Pakistan are scheduled to play nine ICC World Test Championship matches and next year's ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
NOC given to these players
On the other hand, Asif Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Aamir and Mohammad Nawaz have been given NOC. The Pakistan Board said that PCB has approved NOC for Asif Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Aamir and Mohammad Nawaz. All four players are primarily white ball cricketers.
