“Madam. Kindly mention the boy’s religion.”
Iffat Omar celebrated her daughter’s engagement in an intimate and emotionally charged ceremony.
Taking to Instagram, she shared the joyous news along with some delightful photos capturing the special moments.
Her daughter looked radiant, donning a beautiful lilac dress.
The pictures showcased the happy couple, holding hands and exchanging smiles, enveloped in the excitement of their engagement.
Another post featured her daughter dressed in black with her fiance.
The couple highlighted the mix of emotions experienced by parents during such significant milestones.
Many posted congratulatory messages, with one commenting:
“Congratulations so happy for you and your daughter. Be happy.”
Another said she “looked like a princess”.
However, netizens were quick to scrutinise the event, particularly noting that the groom and his family did not appear to be Pakistani.
They claimed that they did not even look like they belonged to any other Muslim country.
This observation sparked concerns among some, questioning whether Iffat’s daughter is getting into an interracial marriage.
One person requested: “Madam. Kindly mention the boy’s religion.”
Another questioned: “Has the boy converted to Islam?”
One asked: “Is the boy Muslim?”
Additionally, criticism was also aimed at the length of the soon-to-be bride’s dress as it did not reach her knees.
Surprisingly, Iffat Omar had disabled comments on the initial engagement announcement post, perhaps to shield her daughter and herself from negativity.
However, in a subsequent post, Iffat’s daughter appeared in a black sleeveless dress that was also supposedly too short in length.
With comments enabled on this post, a flood of hateful remarks quickly poured in.
A user said:
“She would have looked better in a longer dress. Doesn’t look decent at all.”
One questioned: “I was about to ask, is it important to wear such dresses when they go abroad?”
Another said: “At this point just say that you have left Islam.”
Many users went beyond criticising the choice of attire, making broader assumptions about Iffat Omar’s own beliefs and values.
They suggested that the actress had raised her daughter with a similar “shameless” mindset.
One user commented: “Of course, her mother is so shameless how could she teach her daughter basic values.”
Another stated: “Like mother, like daughter.”
One remarked: “She definitely takes after her mom. In looks as well as pathetic mindset.”
