New Delhi: President Draupadi Murmu on Friday conferred the Param Vishisht Seva Medals to 31 senior military officers, including Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi.
Mrs Murmu presented these medals for distinguished and meritorious service to military personnel during the second phase of the Defence Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan here. She also presented distinguished service decorations to 94 personnel of the armed forces and the Indian Coast Guard. These decorations include 31 Param Vishisht Seva Medals (PVSM), four Uttam Yudh Seva Medals (UYSM), Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) with two bars, and 57 AVSM medals.
General Dwivedi and Admiral Tripathi, who were recently appointed as Army Chief and Navy Chief respectively, have also been awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth and senior military officials as well as many dignitaries were present on the occasion.
