Due to Microsoft's outage, services in various areas in the country as well as abroad have been badly affected. Meanwhile, the Indian Government's cyber security agency Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued an advisory. CERT-In has said that recently Microsoft released an update for CrowdStrike Agent Falcon Sensor and this problem is happening due to the same update. Many people's systems are also crashing.
On the Microsoft outage, BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology and Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajeev Chandrashekhar said, “Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Suite are used by millions of Indians. Any outage on this platform disrupts the business and operations of many companies. I hope Microsoft will restore it. I am confident that the Government of India will work with Microsoft to ensure that the services are restored as soon as possible.”
At the same time, the UAE Cyber Security Council has urged to update the Chrome browser for better security. According to a WAM report, the UAE Cyber Security Council has urged the public to install the update released by Google to their Chrome browser.
Microsoft is not directly responsible for the cloud outage
It is worth noting that Microsoft cannot be held directly responsible in this entire matter, because this problem is happening due to CrowdStrike and CrowdStrike has also accepted it. Banking services have also come to a standstill due to this outage. SpiceJet has said that it is using manual method for boarding. Vistara has appealed to the passengers to reach the airport on time.
CrowdStrike CEO gave a statement
CrowdStrike President and CEO George Kurtz posted on X, “CrowdStrike is actively working with customers impacted by a vulnerability in an update released for Windows. Mac and Linux hosts are not impacted. This is not a cyber attack. The issue persists and has been identified. The team continues to work on a resolution.”
