Bharat Katha Mala
To those anonymous Vairagi-Mirasi and Bhaand folk singers, wandering saints and many ancestors of our society family, thanks to whom these precious stories have reached us from generation to generation
As soon as Dabloo returned home from school, mother said, “Oh my dear son, you have come. Now let's wash our hands and face and then we both will eat quickly. Till then I will heat the food too.” When both of them finished eating, mother lovingly caressed his head and asked, “Son, how was your day today?” Dabloo said, “Like every day, mother. Yes mother, today a new teacher has come to our school. He will teach us English.”
“Well, this is a very good thing. Your English is also a little weak. Study carefully.” His mother explained to him.
“But mother, these teachers also give so much homework in every subject that we don't get time to study anything separately.”
“Hmm, you are right son, but you have to study. Only then will you become a good person in future. How will you move forward without studying, that is why we have to work hard to become something in the future. Well, now go to sleep, we have to do our homework too.” -mother said smiling.
Mother woke up Dablu on time but Dablu was not ready to wake up. When he woke up with great difficulty, mother gave him hot milk.
Dabloo sat down to do his homework. Dabloo's homework was only half done when his friends came to call him.
“Hey Dabloo, what are you doing, look it's time to play, let's go.” Ramu said.
“But my work is not done yet.” Dabloo was crying.
“So what, you can finish it when you return.” Ramu insisted and Wablu left with his friends.
Dablu got so busy playing with his friends that he forgot about the time. He came to his senses only when his mother called him. He came home and sat down to complete his homework but the work he had got from school was so much that it was not getting completed. Then Dablu got up, ate food and slept. When he woke up in the morning, he realized that he had not completed his homework. Now he will have to face a scolding today. And that is what happened, he had to stand on the bench the whole day as a punishment for not completing his homework.
When Dabloo returned home, his mother saw him tired and asked, “What is the matter Dabloo? Why do you look so tired?” Dabloo told his mother everything. His mother said, “Let us go only after completing our work.”
He sat down to do his school work with great enthusiasm and thought that he would sleep only after completing his work. But then by the time his work was complete, he started feeling sleepy and he fell asleep.
While sleeping, he started dreaming that he is doing his homework at home and his friends are playing happily. Dinu Kaka's son doesn't even go to school, he eats, plays and sleeps while sitting at home. And he doesn't have to do any work. And his friend Purva also roams around with his father and his father doesn't say anything to him. There is one who gets scolded in school everyday for homework and his mother also keeps telling him to study. She also doesn't think that after all I am a child and I get tired. She also relaxes after her father goes to office. She does whatever she wants. She watches TV and talks to her friends. She is the only one who doesn't get time from her studies to have fun like other children.
Just then his mother woke him up- “Son, get up, you will be late for school.” Then he said angrily- “School again, ufffo.”
“Hey, what happened son, why are you saying this? Is there something the matter?”
“Nothing mother”- he said reluctantly and started getting ready. Then mother said lovingly- “If you don’t feel like going to school today, then don’t go.”
“Really mother.” Dabloo's face lit up with joy.
“Oh yes, let's stay at home today.”
Dabloo got his wish. Let's take a day off from school today.
“Today we will have fun all day long. 'Hurray' – shouting, he ran to change his clothes and in a short time reached his friend's house.
“Ravi, let's go play.”
“Hey, don’t you have to go to school?”
“No, today I will have fun at home, you also don't go.”
Ravi- “No Baba, no, I am going to school. One day's homework gets completed somehow. And then we will have to do the next day's work together, okay-bye.
After Ravi left, he thought let me play with Dinu Kaka's son. He went to Dinu's house and called out, “Kishan…
Just then aunty came out and said, “Son, didn’t you go to school today?”
“No, aunty.” He replied briefly.
“Aunty, where is Kishan? I have come to play.”
Aunty said, “Son, he has gone to work with your uncle.”
He was surprised to hear that Kishan also works.
“But aunty, he doesn't go to school, then what does he do?”
Aunty said with a little teary- “Son, we are poor people. We work hard. Then we get our daily bread. In such a situation, how can we send him to school? He goes around selling peanuts and Revadiya with your uncle.”
“Well?” Hearing Kishan's mother's words, Dabloo's eyes widened in surprise. Then he did not feel like going anywhere else. When he came straight home, his mother asked, “Son, did you finish playing?”
“No, mother….” he said sadly. “I did not find anyone to play with.”
“Okay, it's alright. I'll do some more work and then play with you. Till then you watch TV.” Mother explained.
“Yes mother…” saying this he started watching TV. Then he got up to see his mother. Mother was still working. He asked- “Mother, is your work finished?”
“No son, just a little more… till then you watch some more TV.” Then Dabloo switched on his favourite cartoon channel. He enjoyed watching cartoons for a while but then he lost interest in watching it.
He got up again and went to see his mother. Mother was still busy with her work. He came back and lay down on his bed and tried to sleep. But sleep was miles away from his eyes. His mind was wandering. Along with Ravi, Kishan and friends, he was also thinking about his mother. This means that everyone focuses on their own work. After all, Ravi also gets school work. Still, he completes his work and also plays. And Kishan? Dabloo used to think that Kishan does not do any work whereas he helps his father in his work and remains happy too. His own father also goes to office every day for work and does not take leave. Whenever he would ask- “Papa, are you on leave?” He would smile and say- “Son, I have leave but there is a lot of work. So I have to complete it.”
So this means that after sending me and dad to the office, she also starts working and works till I return and then again starts working in the evening. Thinking about this, his head started feeling heavy and his little heart was filled with joy. He only has to study. A little homework seems like too much to him. That is why he was very happy today due to not going to school. Because of this homework. This means that Ravi was right and his parents also say that first do your work on time and then play a lot. Why could he not understand? Then suddenly his heart became happy and he fell asleep immediately.
In the morning when mother woke him up, Dablu got up without lazing and hugged his mother. Before mother could ask anything, he went into the bathroom. Then he got ready and had breakfast. Mother asked- “What's the matter? Today suddenly my prince has become wise.” Then Dablu said smilingly, “Yes mother… I have understood that the one who completes his work on time, can do anything. Everything. We should never be afraid of our work. Ok mother-bye bye..” and smiling mother also waved her hand.
