Microsoft Outage: Microsoft’s systems faced a major outage on Friday morning. An issue in Azure backend workloads caused issues with Microsoft 365 apps that permeated throughout the world. The outage led to major airlines across the globe, including in India, to temporarily halt their operations. While the Microsoft Outage has been resolved now, a lot of users are still seeing the Blue Screen of Death on their PC screens. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what you need to do if you are facing a similar issue on your Windows 11 PC:
What is Blue Screen of Death on Windows 11 PC?
As Microsoft explains it, Blue Screen errors also called the Blue Screen of Death is the error screen that appears on a PC owing to a serious problem that causes Windows to shut down or restart unexpectedly. These errors can be caused by both hardware and software issues.
Users might see a message that says, “Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer” when the Blue Screen appears. This is what happened during Microsoft Outage today.
How to fix Blue Screen of Death on your Windows 11 PC?
Step 1: Start your PC in Safe Mode.
From sign-in screen
a) On the Windows sign-in screen, press and hold the Shift key while you select Power > Restart.
b) After your PC restarts to the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot.
c) After that choose Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
Notably, you may be asked to enter your BitLocker recovery key.
From a black or blank screen
a) Hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
b) Press the power button again to turn on your device.
c) On the first sign that Windows has started hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
d) Press the power button again to turn on your device.
e) When Windows restarts, hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
f) Press the power button again to turn on your device.
g) Allow your device to restart into Automatic Repair, and then select Advanced options to enter winRE.
h) On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot.
i) Then choose Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
g) After your device restarts, you will see a list of options. Select option 5 from the list or press F5 for Safe Mode with Networking.
Step 2: Now go to the following address: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike directory.
Step 3: Once you are in the CrowdStrike director, find the C-00000291*.sys file and delete it.
Step 4: Now restart your PC normally.
