Indian Navy warship INS Teg is engaged in search and rescue operations off the coast of Oman after an oil tanker capsized on July 15. So far in this mission, eight Indian citizens and one Sri Lankan have been successfully rescued from the crashed ship. Indian Navy personnel are still searching for seven missing crew members.
Let us tell you that an oil tanker ship sank in the sea on the night of 14 July on the coast near Oman. There were a total of 16 crew members on this ship, including 13 Indians. The Indian Navy's INS Teg warship had reached Oman to search for them. The brave soldiers of the Indian Navy showed bravery and rescued nine members alive. The search for seven crew members is still on.
Let us tell you that the operation was started immediately after the oil tanker ship capsized, in which INS Teg has deployed advanced equipment and personnel to locate and assist the remaining crew. The Navy has liaised with local Omani authorities and international maritime agencies to enhance search efforts. Search and rescue operations remain a high priority as efforts continue to locate survivors and provide necessary assistance.
The Indian Navy said, “During the search and rescue operation, 9 crew members (8 Indians and 1 Sri Lankan) of MV Falcon Prestige have been rescued alive. Search and rescue operation is going on to find the remaining crew members.” It is worth noting that MV Falcon Prestige sank on July 15, about 25 nautical miles south-east of Ras Madrakah, Oman. After that, search and rescue operation was started from July 16 by contacting Oman authorities.
At the same time, the naval forces engaged in the rescue team are facing bad weather and strong sea winds. The Indian Navy said that the Navy's long-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft P8I is also helping in the search for survivors. The Indian Embassy in Oman has said that it is in constant touch with the Omani authorities. Giving a new update on the rescue effort, the Indian Embassy in Oman also posted on X, “The Embassy is coordinating SAR operations with the Omani authorities and the Indian Navy for MT Prestige Falcon, a Comoros-flagged ship that capsized off the coast of Oman on July 15. 9 crew members, including 8 Indians, have been rescued today by INS Teg. The search for the remaining survivors is ongoing.”
