Conor McGregor eying career in new sport

  • Conor McGregor has two fights left on his UFC contract.
  • He is considering a move to bare-knuckle boxing.
  • McGregor is currently recovering from a broken toe injury.

Conor McGregor has suggested he may transition to bare-knuckle boxing after fulfilling two more UFC fights.

McGregor is currently awaiting a new date for his much-anticipated fight with Michael Chandler, potentially set for UFC 310 on December 14.

Following this bout, McGregor would have only one more fight left on his contract, which he signed before his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018.

Having invested in Bare Knuckle FC earlier this year, McGregor has declared his intention to make his BKFC debut in the future. “For me, I’ve got a bit of business left with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, two fights left on my contract. But for sure we have three lightweights up here and I have my eye on all of this. I’m not here up here just as an owner, player-manager I’d title myself on this.”

“Make no mistake about it, this is a viable option and in my opinion it’s the only option. I don’t want to see, nor do I give a f***, about UFC fighters going to PFL or another promotion. You need to break it up, you need to mix it up and come and try something new to try and break into that next level of superstardom, of respect, of money and of power. We have all that at BKFC.

“BKFC is the No.1 in the space by a mile. We are different, we are not like anyone else in the space. Although the UFC is at its peak and the mega-company it is and the No.1 in its category, we are the No.1 in our category. It’s apples and oranges; we lend ourselves well to each other and that’s what I really like about it. For me, BKFC right now is No.1 in the space and there is no-one close to it.”

McGregor was initially set to face Chandler at UFC 303 in June but withdrew two weeks prior due to a broken toe sustained during training. Before this announcement, the Dubliner revealed he was negotiating a new contract with the UFC. “I have two fights left on my UFC contract. We’re currently in negotiation stage with the UFC. Let’s see what happens. Let’s see what takes place,” he said.
