India Squad for Sri Lanka Tour: The Indian cricket team is now going to tour Sri Lanka. For this, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian team on Thursday (July 18). But seeing this team, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor got angry. He lashed out at BCCI through a social media post.
Interesting squad selection for India’s tour of Sri Lanka later this month.
Actually, the Indian team is scheduled to play a 3-match ODI and 3-match T20 series on the Sri Lanka tour. The Indian selectors have handed over the captaincy of the T20 team to Suryakumar Yadav. But what Shashi Tharoor feels bad about is that wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson was not selected in the ODIs.
While Abhishek Sharma has been dropped from both the T20 and ODI squads. While Abhishek earlier scored a century in a T20 match on the tour of Zimbabwe. On the other hand, Sanju also scored a century in his last ODI match. However, this shocking decision was taken. Shashi Tharoor also said the same thing in his tweet.
Tharoor raised questions about Sanju and Abhishek
Shashi Tharoor wrote, Interesting selection for the Indian team for the tour of Sri Lanka later this month. Sanju Samson, who scored a century in his last ODI, was dropped from the ODI series itself. While Abhishek Sharma, who scored a century in the T20 match against Zimbabwe, was not selected in any series.
While making his point, the Congress MP also raised questions on the selection and hinted that in the selection of players, IPL performances are given more importance and not players who are successful for the Indian team. He further wrote, People who succeed in playing for India in the blue jersey matter less to the selectors! All the best to the Indian team though.
