Dibrugarh Express derailed near Gonda in Uttar Pradesh. At least two people have died in this incident. Many people are reported to be injured. Along with this, both the loco pilots are safe. Amidst all this, railway sources have made a big claim quoting the loco pilot. The loco pilot has said that he heard a loud explosion-like sound before the accident. This claim has surprised everyone at the moment. After this, the incident is being investigated from different angles. The railway is investigating the possibility of sabotage.

A passenger travelling in the Dibrugarh-Chandigarh Express claimed, “I had to go to Hajipur… (before the incident) there was a mild explosion followed by a strong jolt and our coach derailed. We were coming from Chandigarh.” UP Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said that our priority is to provide better treatment in all hospitals of UP. Today I inspected many hospitals. We will deduct one day's salary of absent doctors. We have deducted one day's salary of the agencies responsible for the places where cleanliness was not good. Suspension action will be taken against the doctors who were absent.
According to the railway, at least 13 trains have been affected. Some trains were canceled and some were diverted to other routes. The railway said in a statement, “Accident relief medical vehicle from Gonda has reached the accident site due to derailment of 15904 Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express on the down line between Motiganj-Jhilahi stations on the Barabanki-Gorakhpur section of Northeast Railway. Relief and rescue work is being done on a war footing. Helpline numbers have been issued by the railways for help and other information of railway passengers.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said in a post on X, “The train accident in Gonda district is extremely sad. District administration officials have been instructed to carry out relief and rescue operations on a war footing and take the injured to the hospital. I pray to Lord Shri Ram for the speedy recovery of the injured.” Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav is currently in Mumbai. He is monitoring the rescue operation from Mumbai. Senior railway officials are taking stock of the developments by sitting with the CEO of the Railway Board in the war room of Rail Bhavan.
