Malappuram: The number of people in the contact list of the child who died due to nipa in Malappuram Pandikkad has increased to 406. This is the figure according to the updated route map. Out of this, 196 people are in the high risk category, including 139 health workers. Currently 15 people are staying in hospitals in Mancheri, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. Meanwhile, a review meeting will be held today in Malappuram under the leadership of the Health Minister. Yesterday, the health department and locals were relieved that the test results of eleven people were negative.
Health Minister Veena George had informed yesterday that the test results of 2 people from Thiruvananthapuram who were in the Nipa contact list were also negative. The result of the test conducted at the Institute of Virology at Khudakkal has come out. Mother and daughter were under Nipa surveillance in Thiruvananthapuram. Both of them came to the hospital in Perinthalmanna while the 14-year-old who died in Malappuram was undergoing treatment.
A survey was conducted in 7239 houses in the area where the 14-year-old died due to Nipah. 439 people are suffering from fever. 4 of them are in contact with the child. The health minister also said that the same virus variant found in 2023 was also confirmed in Malappuram.
