Dibrugarh Train Accident: On Thursday (18 July) in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh, 8 coaches of a train going from Chandigarh to Dibrugarh derailed between Motiganj and Jhilahi railway stations. Three people lost their lives in the accident while 30 people were injured.
Gonda DM Neha Sharma said, "The death toll has increased to 3, while the number of injured has reached 30." However, District Magistrate Neha Sharma had earlier confirmed the death of four people in this incident. After the accident, trains running on this route have been diverted or cancelled.
This accident happened between Motiganj and Jhilahi railway station on Gonda-Gorakhpur rail section of UP. Where 8 coaches of Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed. Rescue operation to evacuate passengers has been completed and work is being done to clear the track. Due to this accident, 13 trains running on this route have been affected. Out of which 2 were canceled, while the routes of 11 trains were changed.
30 people injured in the accident
Relief Commissioner G.S. Naveen Kumar said that 30 of the injured have minor injuries while five were seriously injured. 25 of them are being treated at the Community Health Center in Mankapur, while 5 are being treated at the Community Health Center in Kajidevar and 3 seriously injured people are being treated at the District Hospital.
8 patients admitted in hospital-Medical Superintendent
Medical Superintendent of Gonda M W Khan said, 12 patients were brought to us, out of which the condition of 4 was serious. One patient had a crush injury in his leg, whose leg had to be amputated. The remaining three patients had head injuries, they have been referred to Lucknow after first aid. However, 8 are still in our hospital, none of them has a serious injury.
Victims expressed their pain
Meanwhile, Manoj Pandit, a victim of the train accident, said, “My child's hand is broken in this accident, my wife's finger is fractured and my leg is injured. The doctor has told me that everything will be fine in two to four days.” Apart from this, another victim Jitendra Yadav, a resident of Gorakhpur, UP, said, “I was in the train with my brother and friend. My brother is injured in the accident and his shoulder is broken and he has also suffered a head injury.”"text-align: justify;">The loco pilot heard the sound of an explosion before the accident

Railway Ministry announced compensation
Indian Railways also announced compensation for the dead and injured. Giving information, the Railway Ministry said that an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh has been announced to the family of the deceased, Rs 2.5 lakh to the seriously injured and Rs 50,000 to the minor injured. Along with this, apart from the CRS investigation, orders have been given for a high-level investigation.
