Varanasi. A meeting of the Municipal Corporation Executive was held under the chairmanship of Mayor Ashok Tiwari. In this, a budget of Rs 6 crore was approved for street lighting in the newly expanded areas. Along with the appointment of 26 assistant supervisors in the water works department, consensus was reached on the appointment of three sewer cleaners in every ward and one supervisor to monitor two wards. Meat shops will not be opened near the Kanwar Yatra route and Shivalayas during the month of Sawan.
The mayor welcomed the new vice-chairman Narsingh Das and the new members of the executive committee. Executive member Amardev Yadav sought information regarding the implementation of the works passed earlier in the committee under 91-1 mentioned in the act. In this regard, joint city commissioner Krishnachand informed that it will be consolidated by 24 July and presented before the executive committee. The mayor sought information on the progress as per the earlier instructions to get the vehicles repaired from an authorized company. Transport in-charge Ajay Saxena informed that the tender process is being done and the process will be completed soon.
Deputy Chairman Narsingh Das raised the issue of not garlanding the statues of great men installed in the city. He said that garlands should be offered to great men every day. The Deputy Chairman said that there is a shortage of resources in the garden department, there is a need to increase resources and manpower. Rajesh Yadav (Challu) said that the heritage pole installed under the Hriday Yojana is damaged, on which Executive Engineer Ajay Saxena said that the work of repairing the damaged light points is being done under the Hriday Yojana, 10 percent of the work has been completed, the remaining work will be done on priority basis.
The mayor sought information about the progress of beautification of 65 parks being done by Smart City. Chief Engineer Moinuddin informed that currently 30 parks are being beautified by Smart City, on which the mayor expressed displeasure and said that the work has to be completed in May itself, there is a lot of delay, if the work is not completed by July 30, then the concerned contractor should be blacklisted and payment should be stopped.
Decisions taken in the executive meeting
In the month of Sawan, sewer workers will be deployed in shifts for 24 hours to deal with sewer/drain problems at all Shiva temples, especially Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Shri Kedareshwar Temple, Tilbhadeshwar Temple, Kalbhairav, Sankatha Ji, Bada Ganesh, Batuk Bhairav Temple, Baijnatha Temple, etc., so that whenever a problem arises, it can be resolved immediately.
A decision was passed for the fresh deployment of 26 assistant supervisors in the Jalkal department which was facing shortage of staff.
The Executive Committee passed the decision to deploy three sewer cleaning workers in each ward of the city and one supervisor in two wards.
