Greater Noida. In the joint operation of Noida STF and Bisrakh Police, an international call center that was cheating American citizens has been exposed. 24 people have been arrested in this. 8 luxury cars including Mercedes, 23 laptops, 32 mobiles, 60 print outs, cash worth Rs 4 lakh, foreign currency worth crores of rupees including Dubai, Singapore, Thailand have also been recovered from them. These gangs used to cheat by taking data from agents in different countries.
This gang had set up its call center in Mahagun Mywods Society in Bisrakh police station area of Greater Noida. According to the information received from the police, on Saturday at around 2 pm, STF and local police raided flat number 14106 of tower number 7 of the society, police station Bisrakh and busted this international call centre.
Police were continuously receiving complaints from American citizens that they were being cheated, on which action was also initiated in STF. The STF team came to know from reliable sources that gang member Varun, who is the partner of Akur Gupta. Yes, Mahagun located in Bisrakh police station area is cheating American citizens by running a call center in Maywood.
The arrested gang leader Ankur Gupta told the police during interrogation that he is an MBA pass. Ankur Gupta has worked in various positions in various call centers between 2004 and 2011. In the year 2011-12, he started buying imported mobile phones from Karol Bagh, Delhi and selling them in the market of Delhi, NCR. During this time, he came to know Nitin Singh, who lives in America, who entrusted him with the task of smuggling Apple iPhone from USA to Chennai via Hong Kong. During this work, he met Agadi Mukesh Shah of Gujarat. In the year 2019, Mukesh Shah introduced Ankur Gupta to Himanshu Gupta in Hong Kong. Himanshu used to cheat USA citizens by running a fake international call centre. After learning this work from him, Ankur was running a fake call center for the last 4 years.
While working in Karol Bagh, Delhi, he met Tarun, who ran a mobile repairing shop there. Tarun along with Ankur took the work forward. Later, Ankur came in contact with call generating hackers through dark web and Telegram channels, who had data of USA citizens and were sending SMS on this data. They used to attack the mobile phones and mails of American citizens through blasting, email blasting and popups and offered help in problems like mobile banking, insurance etc.
As soon as a call was made by a foreign citizen, the call would reach Ankur Gupta’s call center through cloud based dialer. For this, Ankur used to pay the call generating hackers in bitcoins. For this, Ankur Gupta has created 6 crypto wallets on different platforms. As soon as Ankur received a call to the call centre, he would get the foreign victim to transfer USA dollars to his account in Hong Kong based banks through various payment modes, including Bitcoin and Giftcard Cash App. Ankur used to pay these account holders in crypto currency and then this money used to reach Ankur and Tarun etc. through Agadhiya.
