Gandhinagar, 18 November (HS). Gujarat’s Mandal Becharaji Special Investment Sector (MBSIR) is emerging as the world’s largest auto mobile hub in the automobile and auto component manufacturing industry sector. Auto manufacturing plants of global companies like Maruti Suzuki and Honda are operating here, which is boosting local business and employment.
Local resident Ranjitbhai Thakor, who has been running a tea shop in Sitapur village for the last 20 years, says about MBSIR, “Before Mandal Becharaji became a Special Investment Region, only people from rural areas used to come to his shop to drink tea. . After the formation of MBSIR, connectivity has improved here and due to industrial development here, the number of customers coming to tea-stalls has also increased. Earlier our daily income was around Rs 3 to 4 thousand but after the construction of MBSIR our income has doubled.”
The formation of MBSIR has greatly benefited local businesses as well as farmers. Talking about this, Kanudanbhai Gadhvi, a farmer from Sitapur, says, “20 years ago, Sitapur village was considered backward. In Sitapur, bordering four districts, land prices were barely Rs 10,000 per bigha. Today, the prices of the lands which are becoming special investment areas have increased manifold, due to which we have benefited a lot. Also, the companies present here, as part of their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities, have also developed toilets and community halls in the village. “It is because of MBSIR that people of Sitapur and surrounding villages are getting employment in the companies established here.”

As a result of the successful planning of Vibrant Gujarat Summit which started 20 years ago, Gujarat has got many mega projects which will lead the future development of Gujarat. Mandal Becharaji SIR, one such futuristic mega project, was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Today the world’s big industrialists are investing in Gujarat. With the establishment of a new manufacturing plant of the famous car manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki near Bahucharaji, business and employment opportunities are increasing in the areas around here.
Mandal-Bechrajee Special Investment Region (MBSIR) has become an important hub for automobile manufacturing with many large investments. Today, manufacturing units of famous car companies like Maruti Suzuki and Honda are operating here. Under MBSIR, a total area of 102 square kilometers is being developed as per industrial requirements, which includes 9 villages – Halipur, Sitapur, Ughroj, Ughrojpura, Bhagapura, Geetapur, Ukardi, Chandanaki and Shihore. At present, road and connectivity related works have been completed under Phase-1 in this area. In Phase-2, works like street lights, sewer lines and clean drinking water will be completed in the next two years.
