To those who follow AEW, Tony Khan is notorious for dishing out ‘huge announcements’ quite often. This time around, he has promised one again. Having said that, the AEW CEO is set to unveil the company’s latest signing at Full Gear pay-per-view this Sunday. There have been unbridled speculations regarding who that could be. Some thought it would be Mercedes Mone, Dolph Ziggleror maybe even Goldberg.
But no, it doesn’t appear so. According to Andrew Zarian of the With Men podcastTony Khan would probably announce the AEW signing of Will Ospreay. This comes on the heels of WWE’s heavy pursuit of The Aerial Assassin. The Triple H-led regime even made ‘preliminary overtures’ for Ospreay. However, it seems like they’ve missed the boat, if the aforementioned report were to be believed.
Will Ospreay’s name caught massive fan attention after the latter’s successful title defense at Crown Jewel. For those who aren’t aware, Will’s current NJPW contract is set to expire on February 1, 2024. Until now, he seemed to have received multiple offers from numerous promotions around the globe, including WWE, but apparently AEW has nailed him.
Though Ospreay has frequently wrestled in AEW, he wasn’t signed to a full-fledged contract. That could change this weekend at the Kia Forum in Inglewood. If he does end up being Tony Khan’s newest prospect, it’s going to be huge for them. The reigning IWGP United States Champion is one of the best professional wrestlers on the entire planet.
Will Ospreay was open to facing Seth Rollins in WWE
This year, in October, Will Ospreay sat down with for an interview. He touched upon various topics during the conversation, including his openness to joining WWE in the future. He even said he’s open to settling in the United States and gauging fans’ interest. Talking about the Essex-born wrestler did say that The Visionary is someone who intrigues him a lot.
The Billy G.O.A.T. quoted Rollins’ promo, where the latter said that his 100% is the best in the world. Ospreay did not buy what Seth had to say and instead spun the thing in his own favor by proclaiming that even his 50% is the best. The UK-based superstar concluded by saying that if someone gets him at 100%, they’ll drown in the water
