New Delhi: Farah Khan and Sajid Khan are one of the most popular and big filmmakers in the Bollywood industry today. The brother-sister duo has made some amazing films and made fans go crazy with their work. But, it was not always like this as they had nothing when they were children and had to work hard to create the lifestyle they have today. The Khan siblings are once again a true example of rags to riches.
Farah had earlier opened up about her pre-fame life on the show Boss Dialogues, which was hosted by Indu Mirani. The Bollywood filmmaker has insisted that his and his brother Sajid Khan’s childhood was a ‘pure get-rich’ story after one of his father’s films flopped.
He said, “For Sajid and me, we have seen the best of Bollywood by the age of 5. My father was very rich and we used to have parties and all the stars would come home but then a film came.” , which my father had created, and that was ‘Aisa Bhi Hota Hai’, which he had invested all his money in and it failed on a Friday morning. It was really a story of rags to riches, just like in the film,” Farah said.
Farah said that her gramophone, her mother’s jewellery, were gone over the years and she was left with only a 500-square-foot flat as the house was in her mother’s name and her father could not sell it.
The 48-year-old said she gets angry whenever people tell her that she comes from a privileged background. “And from there till my father’s death, he died with only Rs 30 in his pocket. So when people say to me that you come from a privileged background I really want to get up and slap them hard because it was just Rs 30.” And I had to run here and there and ask for money for his funeral,” she said.
The actress believes that destiny played a huge role in her becoming a choreographer. “So from there, then struggle and I got into dance. I would say that luck also plays a very important role. You have to be prepared for it though, I was really into dance and choreography. And self-taught because I didn’t have the money to enroll in film school or even dancing classes. I regret that I never learned any form of dance officially, which hindered me,” he adds.
Today Farah Khan and Sajid Khan are among the biggest names of Bollywood. He truly had a journey from riches to riches and it was all because of his hard work.
