A day after video showed Nana Patekar slapping a fan for taking a selfie with him on the sets, the actor has shared his side of the story in a new video posted by ANI. He has said that beating up a boy was part of a scene in his next film, and he thought the fan was actually one of the crew members who was supposed to be part of the scene, but he later learned that he was Was a real fan.
Nana Patekar told the whole thing
In the video, Nana says while talking in Hindi, “Namaskar. A video is going viral in which I hit a boy. There is a sequence in the film where a boy comes from behind and says ‘Hey old man, do you want to sell your hat?’ And I catch him, slap him and ask him to behave properly and he runs away. Explaining further he says, “Although this sequence is part of our film, we had a rehearsal. We had to do another rehearsal. The director asked me to start. We were about to start when the boy seen in the video came. I didn’t know who he was, I thought he was one of our crew so I slapped him as per the scene and asked him to leave.
Later, I learned that he was not part of the crew. So, I was going to call him back but he ran away. His friend may have shot the video. I have never refused anyone a photo. I don’t do that… It happened by mistake… If there is some misunderstanding, please forgive me… I would never do something like that…”

Journey Director’s statement on viral video
Hours after the video of Nana beating a boy went viral, director Anil Sharma had told PTI, “He (Patekar) has not slapped anyone, this is a shot from our film. People have a problem of making noise without any reason… We are currently shooting for the film Journey in Banaras. Patekar’s character in the film is suffering from dementia. She is upset and a boy comes to take a picture with her. There are a lot of people around us who have come here to watch the shooting. I think someone has clicked this particular part, which is actually one of the scenes in the film.” Nana will be shooting for Journey in Varanasi for two weeks. The film also stars Gadar 2 fame Utkarsh Sharma.
