Andy Atkinson not returned to new zealand: Pitch consultant Andy Atkinson has stirred controversy by accusing him of changing the pitch in the World Cup semi-final against New Zealand. Atkinson was nowhere to be seen during pitch preparation 48 hours before the final between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It was being said that Atkinson had left India before the final. However, it has now been learned that Atkinson has reached Ahmedabad on Friday afternoon. He will join the preparations tomorrow.
didn’t go back to new zealand
According to reports, Andy has not gone back to New Zealand. He came with the ICC delegation in the afternoon and hence did not come on the field. “Andy will be there tomorrow to check track preparation.” It is being said that BCCI officials are also unhappy with Atkinson. He had accused the host country of changing the track from new to old track for the semi-finals.
ICC issued clarification
However, ICC later issued a clarification. He said there is no such rule to hold knock-out matches on the new track. Atkinson was already informed about this.
On Friday, two senior BCCI ground staff took stock of the preparations for the final to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Ashish Bhowmik and Taposh Chatterjee closely inspected the preparations along with former India fast bowler and BCCI GM (domestic cricket) AB Kuruvilla.
Although it is not known whether the track used for the final is old or new… but it is being said that a big score can be made here. Batting in the second innings, 315 could be a defendable score.
