New Delhi: Popular chat platform Discord has announced the shutdown of its experimental artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot at the end of the month. As of December 1, users “will no longer be able to invite Clyde to DMs, group DMs, or server chats,” the company said in a support page.
It says, “Thank you for your support and feedback – we are constantly working to bring new features and experiences for you.”
Discord began testing Clyde’s AI features using OpenAI’s models to allow the chatbot to answer questions and interact with users.
The company did not explain why Clyde was suddenly closing.
Discord is experimenting with various AI features, including AI-generated conversation summaries. The platform is also trying to position its platform as a home for AI developers.
Earlier this month, Discord announced that it would switch to temporary file links for all users by the end of the year to fight malware.
Links to those files will begin refreshing every 24 hours by the end of this year to prevent malware delivery. There will be no impact to Discord users sharing content within the Discord client.
