New Delhi, 18 November (Tezzbuzz). Former world champion boxer Floyd Mayweather has praised the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team ahead of their clash against five-time champions Australia in the World Cup final on Sunday.
Team India, unbeaten in the tournament, will try to create history and win the World Cup for the second time on home soil at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Mayweather, who remained undefeated throughout his career and won 15 major world championships, was attending an NBA match and was seen with Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive.
Ranadive posted a video with Mayweather on X.
The former champion said in the video, I want to say to the Indian cricket team, congratulations. You guys are the best to make it to the World Cup finals.
Host India has won the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup twice, in 1983 and 2011. India finished on top with 18 points after winning all nine of their matches in the group stage. India, unbeaten in the tournament, reached the final with a spectacular win in the semi-finals against New Zealand. There were many interesting moments in the match as the Kiwis tried their best to chase down India’s huge score, but Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami ensured the victory for the Indian team by taking wickets at crucial junctures.
India defeated New Zealand by 70 runs in the match played in Mumbai on Wednesday.
