The US has announced new sanctions against the Iraq-based militia group Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada and its secretary-general, Hashim Finyan Rahim al-Sarji. He has been declared a “Specially Designated Global Terrorist”. The US says the armed group was threatening the lives of both the US and the global coalition to defeat ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

Apart from these, the US Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on six people associated with the Iran-aligned militia group Kataib Hezbollah (KH). In his statement, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Iran, through the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Quds Force, was even providing training and financial support to al-Shuhad, Hezbollah and Iranian-aligned armed groups.

Carried out attacks on America’s army

The US claims that al-Shuhada, along with US-banned organizations Hezbollah and al-Nujaba, have carried out attacks on US forces. America has imposed new sanctions to stop these activities of armed groups. America accused Iran of spreading state-supported terrorism. Blinken said that America is committed to taking all necessary steps to stop Iran’s terrorism.

Attacks on American military bases in Iraq-Syria

Amid the Israel-Hamas war, there have been rocket-missile attacks on US military bases in Iraq and Syria. Many American Army soldiers were also injured in different attacks. The number of people killed in Hamas attacks on Israel has increased. Especially in the music party, earlier 270 people were confirmed dead, which has increased to 364.

No plan to deploy army in Gaza- Netanyahu
