Actually, after this ICC tournament, India has to play a 5-match T20 series against Australia from 23rd November, this series will run till 3rd December. After the busy schedule of the World Cup, senior players like Rohit Sharma-Virat Kohli will be given rest, while Hardik Pandya, who was ruled out of the World Cup due to injury, also has very less chances of playing in this series. In such a situation, Suryakumar Yadav can be given the command of the Indian team. After the World Cup, the tenure of Indian head coach Rahul Dravid will end, hence VVS Laxman can become the head coach of Team India for this series.
According to a report, the senior national selection committee of BCCI is going to meet soon to choose the team for the T20 series against Australia. B team can be selected for this series to be held immediately after the World Cup.
No. 1 T20 batsman Suryakumar Yadav was appointed the vice-captain of the T20 team during India’s tour of the West Indies, where they played five matches in the Caribbean and the United States. Pandya has not yet recovered from the ankle injury suffered during the World Cup and his playing is currently doubtful. In such a situation, the selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar can hand over the captaincy to Yadav.
It is being told that Hardik Pandya may take up to two months to recover completely. In such a situation, he may also be out of the T20 and ODI series against South Africa.
The 33-year-old Yadav had earlier led the Mumbai team and the India Under-23 team in the Emerging Cup. According to the report, players like Ishan Kishan and Prasidh Krishna, who are included in the World Cup 2023 squad, may get a chance in this T20 series. All other players will be given rest.
