A 6.7-magnitude earthquake in the southern Philippines has killed six people while authorities search for two missing people. Local disaster officials gave this information on Saturday. According to the German Research Center for Geosciences, the earthquake struck on Friday afternoon at a depth of 60 km off the island of Mindanao.
Agrippino Decerra, head of the disaster office in General Santos City in South Cotabato province, told Reuters that three people had died there. Decerra said a man and his wife were killed when a concrete wall collapsed, while another woman died in a shopping mall.
At least two people were killed near the epicenter in Sarangani province, while rescue workers were searching for two others who went missing after the landslide, Glen’s coastal disaster response officer Angel Dugaduga told Reuters. A 78-year-old man died after being crushed by a rock in Davao Occidental province.
