
New Delhi, 18 November (Tezzbuzz). The central government has approved 27 companies including Dell, HP and Foxconn under the new production linked incentive (PLI) scheme for IT hardware. These 27 companies will invest Rs 3 thousand crores.
Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Saturday that I am happy to announce that 27 companies have been approved under the PLI IT Hardware Scheme. Addressing industry leaders and media, Vaishnav said that out of 27 approved applicants, 23 are ready to start manufacturing from today itself. He said that these 27 companies will invest Rs 3,000 crore. Among the companies whose applications have been approved under the PLI scheme, there are many big companies including Dell, Foxconn, HP and Lenovo.
According to the Ministry of Electronics and IT, with the approval of these companies, employment opportunities will be available to about 2 lakh people. In this, about 50 thousand people will get direct employment and about 1.5 lakh people will get indirect employment. The value of IT hardware production will be around Rs 3.50 lakh crore. There will be an investment of Rs 3,000 crore by companies in this.
