Kishanganj : Night blood survey campaign will be conducted in all the blocks and urban areas of the district in the coming month to find out the status of filariasis in the district and to identify the patients. Various programs are conducted with the aim of eradicating the disease like filariasis. Under this eradication program, in the second phase, it has been ensured that the universal drug intake program will be conducted from August 10. For which orientation program of block level office bearers was organized on Friday under the chairmanship of civil surgeon Dr. Kaushal Kishore in Sadar Hospital premises.
In-charge District Vector Borne Disease Control Officer Dr. Devendra Kumar said that preparations have been started by the health department regarding the night blood survey to be held in the district in the coming month. Two sites are to be selected in each block of the district. In which the work of selecting one sentinel and the other random site will be completed soon. Blood collection of three hundred people is to be done at all these 18 sites. After examining which, if found infected, the drug of filariasis will be given under the MDA round in the month of August.
Members of the Night Blood Survey team will take blood samples of people above 20 years of age. Blood samples of 300 people will be collected at one site and 300 at the other site i.e. a total of 600 people. So that proper investigation of potential patients can be ensured and correct information about the disease can be obtained in the initial stages itself. A four-member team will also be formed for the night blood survey. In which there will necessarily be a lab technician. People will be motivated to get sampling done by going door to door by the ASHA worker of the concerned area.
Dr. Devendra Kumar said that the main objective of organizing the activities of night blood survey is to know the rate of filariasis and microfilaria at the block level.
