UP. Six children had gone to bathe in the Ganges on Friday afternoon at Siddhnath Ghat in Jajmau in Kanpur. Due to the strong current and depth, suddenly the children started drowning. When the divers present there saw it, they took the children out. Bodies of two children were found in it, the remaining four children were admitted to the hospital in critical condition.
The police reached the spot and informed everyone’s relatives. On the other hand, as soon as the family members of the deceased got information about the incident, there was hue and cry. According to information, Shiva Singh (14), son of Ajay Kumar, first resident of Chakeri Safipur, was a student of class nine.
Advik alias Lakshya (15), son of Sarvendra Kumar of the area, was a high school student. Sushil’s son Hrithik Pandey (14), Santosh’s son Nikhil Nishad (14), Rajan’s son Vivek Nishad (15) and Rajaram’s son Aryan Nishad (15) from both the areas reached Siddhanth Ghat to bathe.
While taking a bath here, everyone started drowning in the middle of the river. Hearing the noise, the divers present on the spot jumped into the river to save everyone. The divers pulled out all the students from the river with effort of about half an hour. Also informed the police. Police reached the spot and sent everyone to a nearby private hospital.
From here Shiva and Lakshya were referred to Kanshi Ram Hospital, where the doctor declared both brought dead. After this, the police informed everyone’s family members. On seeing the dead bodies of the relatives of the deceased who reached Kanshiram Hospital, they were in bad condition by crying.
Station in-charge Rambabu Singh said that all the teenagers started drowning while taking a bath in the Ganges. Divers pulled everyone out. The relatives have refused to conduct the post-mortem of the deceased. In writing, the dead bodies have been handed over to the relatives.
