Muzaffarnagar. Heavy rain coupled with severe cold could not deter Bhakiyu’s indefinite agitation at GIC Maidan and the farmers continued to stand on the protest site for the third day as well.
Not only this, the tents blown away by the strong winds started to be installed more firmly. Bhakiyu spokesperson Rakesh Tikait accused the state government of breaking promises with the farmers from the protest site. He said that the farmers were neither getting the payment of sugarcane as promised nor was it being procured on MSP.
He said that officials from above are busy in registering cases by implicating them in matters other than electricity and water. Right now hundreds of cases registered during the farmer’s movement have not been withdrawn, so we demand that the government should get the rightful rights of the farmers. The state government should give compensation on the lines of other states to the families of the farmers who were martyred during the movement.
Rakesh Tikait said that the farmers on the Delhi border have faced heat, rain and severe cold for 14 months. The farmer has passed the first school of the movement for his rights with the top number, so now the same experience is working for the farmers. The farmers have accepted the rain as Prasad, so they have started putting up the tents more firmly.
He called upon the farmers to build huts on tractor-trolleys and march towards the movement site to strengthen the movement. This will be the real weapon of the farmers’ movement.
Chaudhary Tikait warned the Central and State Governments that if the demands of the farmers are not accepted in time, then not only the farmers of UP, Haryana and Punjab can also march to Muzaffarnagar. He said that he has also held talks with SKM leaders and they have assured all kind of cooperation to the movement.
First we are looking at the intention of the state government. If the demand of the farmers is accepted in time, then it will be fine, otherwise the farmer will be forced to fight all the way.
He said that farmers are being exploited in the name of electricity bills. Officer not ready to listen. Cases are being filed against farmers, they are being sent to jails. The price of sugarcane has not been increased and the arrears of last year have not yet been paid. The farmer has reached the verge of suicide. That’s why he has come to ask for his rights, not alms.
He said that a dozen farmers from UP were martyred in the movement. The rest of the states gave financial assistance to the families of the martyred farmers. Rather the Telangana government felt the pain of the farmers and gave them financial help. At the same time, the UP government, which claims to be well-wisher of the farmers, did not help. The farmer is watching everything.
Alerted to nearby farmers: Chaudhary Rakesh Tikait today instructed the farmers of Muzaffarnagar and neighboring districts to remain on alert mode. He said that if the government does not listen to the farmers, then the workers of neighboring districts can also march to Muzaffarnagar. They have been told to be ready.
Information about this is being sent to all the district heads. He said that apart from this, if needed, the United Kisan Morcha will also be appealed to participate in the movement, so that this movement can once again become an example for the world.
