New Delhi. The Congress has said that when the rupee has fallen to a record level, the government has issued a notification under which companies making profits continuously for three years can convert the rupee to dollar.
Congress spokesperson Gaurav Ballabh told a press conference here on Thursday that instead of taking measures to stop the rupee reaching Rs 81 against the dollar, the government is taking the reverse step. He said, “The Reserve Bank issued a notification on August 22, according to which any Indian person or company making profit for 3 years up to one billion dollars can convert Indian rupees into dollars.”
He said that according to this, any company which has a profit of three years can convert local currency into foreign currency without any problem up to Rs 8,081 crore. Describing this move of the government as full of doubts, he said that the government should release a list of such people. The arrival of the notification at this juncture raises a huge doubt.
The spokesman said that the government should be told that through a notification, the list of people who have sent money out, when and which companies should be issued.
